We value the veterans of our Heritage community who proudly served our country. It is now our privilege to serve veterans and their families with end of life planning as well as promote resources provided by other trusted entities within our community. When we make connections and build relationships, everyone benefits.

Our June community event for veterans included valuable resources for this community. Read through the information below and click the associated links to find out more.

Lastly, meet Willie Taylor Jr. Willie served our country in Vietnam, enlisting voluntarily in 1970. At 18 years old, ten days after marrying his high school sweetheart, Willie left to serve 14 months in Saigon. He was stationed at Tan Son Nhut Air Base. After returning home, Willie continued to serve his community for 27 years as a special education teacher. You only have to talk with Willie briefly to see his genuine, kind heart. As a veteran, Willie cares deeply for the community of those who served our country. After being denied services himself, Willie was encouraged to continue to push for the benefits he earned and deserved. His hope is to give that same encouragement to others. Willie says, “I wish every veteran could have the advantages the benefits have afforded me.”

Willie is a board member of the West Michigan Veterans Assistance Program.
